Welcome to the

2019 UFO Challenge!

Do you have quilting projects that somehow got cast aside and need to come out for attention?  Hopefully to be finished, possibly to be redelegated to other piles such as Dismantle and Repurpose or Get Rid Of?

The purpose of this challenge is to encourage you to get some finishes!

We have two parts – A Main Project and All The Rest

For the Main Project, you will select one of your UFOs (Unfinished Objects) to be finished by the September meeting.  This is a challenge, so please pick something that needs some significant effort on your part.  Something that needs just half the binding done is  definitely needing to be done, but it should go on the All The Rest list.  I will pass around a folder at our meeting, and you will write the name of the project and what needs to be done on the folder.  It is preferable that you bring the finished project to the September meeting so we can see all of our finishes together.  At the September meeting, all the names of those who finish their Main Project will be put in a drawing for $25.

(Just think, a major project finished and cash to spend on buying more fabric!  And if you don’t win the drawing, you still have a major project finished.)

For All The Rest, you will list all your other UFOs on a sheet of paper (8 ½ by 11), which will go inside the previous mentioned folder.  When you finish a project, it will be marked as finished.  Then at the December meeting, your name will go into a drawing for every finish you complete during the year.  Two names will be drawn for a prize of $25 each.

What is considered a UFO?  Any quilting project that was started before January 1, 2019.  Maybe it was just cut out, maybe just a block, maybe almost finished.  This includes quilts of all sizes, tablerunners and bags.

It must be completely finished to be counted as a finish.  That sounds redundant, but we’ve had folks consider it done before it was quilted or before it was bound.

If you have any questions or suggestions, please let me know.

Let the finishing begin!
